"..ROLLER DERBY IS NOT A SPORT" so declares the Oregonian newspaper in Portland, who when asked by a friend of derby why the recently held WFTDA Northwest Knockdown nationals was not covered in the paper.  This was reported to us through a MySpace bulletin from the Oly Rollers of Olympia, WA.  Please contact the Oregonian at 503-221-8548 or by e-mail sports@news.oregonian.com to clear the air.

Editors note: I do not believe this document was ever released in this form.  It may look a little cryptic, but it is a jam-by-jam account of a roller derby bout.  These types of notes were used by MCRSP for newsgathering purposes.  I am publishing this because (1) it exists and (2) we have no video of this bout.

NOVEMBER 15 2008 – CASTLE SPORTS CLUB

Well Arizona derby fans, let me tell you, this is a great time to be a fan of roller derby here in Arizona!! There's a lot of good stuff happening and it's only going to get better.  Let's do our periodic slide through the leagues and subjects and let's see where this goes..

This last weekend was a big wow in many ways because of the exciting events that took place on not just Saturday but also took place on Sunday and Monday.  I think you will agree with me that there's something special about roller derby in Arizona.  

On September 13, Arizona Roller Derby (AZRD) opens up their sixth season with a lot of changes.  This season, the league will be bouting at the Castle Sports Club instead of the outdoor Casey At The Bat.  The league has switched to the bout format of doing two 30-minute periods instead of three 20-minute periods.  New logos for the Brawlarinas and the Bruisers were introduced this evening.  

PHOENIX, AZ - July 12, 2008 - Additional chairs were brought into the Castle Sports Club in anticipation of a higher than usual sales of presale tickets.  The Arizona Derby Dames did sell out the house and those who were lucky to get in were in for two major treats.

Here it is the Wednesday after one of the most exciting Dames bouts of the entire season and I finally got about 90 percent of my voice back. If you missed that bout, you really missed out.  Remember the number one rule for being a Dames fan..  SHOW UP EARLY!!!!
