November is the time to give thanks for derby love.
November is here and where it comes to derby in Arizona, there are definitely no turkeys.

When you are in a city with multiple derby leagues, having two leagues scheduling bouts on the same night is not always fun. Sometimes, it can be because of scheduling venue space. But it is understandable.
Both Arizona Derby Dames (AZDD) and Arizona Roller Derby (AZRD) have derby action scheduled for Saturday, October 11.
Tucson Roller Derby is coming back to life and is now finally coming home.

In the first bout, we will see TRD's A-team, the Javelina Havoc take on AZRD's heritage home team, the Bad News Beaters.

On Saturday, May 16, 2009, history was made as the Surly Gurlies swept all three of their mini-games during the “Battle Royale” championship bout at the Castle Sports Club. The pirate-themed Surlys have always been underrated as a result of their 2008-2009 season record (they went 0-3 in regulation) when in fact, they have three of the strongest jammers in the league.
Citing concern for the safety of skaters, non-skating officials and fans as well as liability issues, Arizona Roller Derby made a late decision to cancel this evening's AZRD bout between the Bruisers and the Bad News Beaters. This evening was also supposed to have a exposition by Dry Heat Derby in a co-ed game that would have included skaters from the men's league, AZRD and Tucson Roller Derby.
Arizona Roller Derby has announced through their Facebook group of a new membership structure for the league.

Score and stats data for the leagues will remain at michichan.com.
Tonight was a major night for roller derby in Arizona as three different leagues held events. In Phoenix at Arizona Roller Derby, the 1-0 Bruisers would take on the 0-2 Surly Gurlies while down in Tucson, the day started with an afternoon bout between the Tucson Derby Brats travel team, the Saddlebrats and the Los Angeles Junior Dolls, the little sister league of Los Angeles Derby Dolls. Then in the evening, Tucson Roller Derby had their season opener with 6 15-minute mini-bouts following the same schedule as the home team bouts for the rest of the year.
Derby lovers, here we are again. The derby season is about to get into high gear here in Arizona. TRD had a great way to open the month by showing evidence that your Michi needs to move to Tucson and attend the Helen Wheels school of skating correctly.
Let's talk derby. AZDD, AZRD, TRD and Brats!
