November is the time to give thanks for derby love.
November is here and where it comes to derby in Arizona, there are definitely no turkeys.

Tucson Roller Derby is coming back to life and is now finally coming home.
On November 1, 2025, TRD will be holding a doubleheader bout which will also feature the two home teams from Arizona Roller Derby.
In the first bout, we will see TRD's A-team, the Javelina Havoc take on AZRD's heritage home team, the Bad News Beaters.
In the second bout, it will be AZRD's Skate Riot Project vs. TRD's newly formed B-team.
Tonight was a major night for roller derby in Arizona as three different leagues held events. In Phoenix at Arizona Roller Derby, the 1-0 Bruisers would take on the 0-2 Surly Gurlies while down in Tucson, the day started with an afternoon bout between the Tucson Derby Brats travel team, the Saddlebrats and the Los Angeles Junior Dolls, the little sister league of Los Angeles Derby Dolls. Then in the evening, Tucson Roller Derby had their season opener with 6 15-minute mini-bouts following the same schedule as the home team bouts for the rest of the year.
Derby lovers, here we are again. The derby season is about to get into high gear here in Arizona. TRD had a great way to open the month by showing evidence that your Michi needs to move to Tucson and attend the Helen Wheels school of skating correctly.
Let's talk derby. AZDD, AZRD, TRD and Brats!

With half of the participating leagues being unranked in the 4th quarter, the organizers of the upcoming Four Cor
We have a flash final score from Bladeworld in Tucson:
WFTDA-INTERLEAGUE
(6) TUCSON ROLLER DERBY SADDLETRAMPS - 81
(26) PIKES PEAK DERBY DAMES SLAMAZONS - 94
Sloppy Flo did not skate tonight due to asthma. With all of the brush fires here in Phoenix and down in Tucson, I can totally understand any skater who is also asthmatic sitting out. Flo's presence may have helped TRD win this bout or at least narrow the margin.
The AZDR was not at this bout.
Only the extract could be recovered.
And you all thought the 1979 Disco Demolition Night at Comiskey Park was something strange in sports, check out what happened at TRD on Saturday (6-21-08).
TRD
The one night that I was not able to make it to Tucson due to my new work schedule was the one night that all hell would break loose at Tucson Roller Derby.
The AZDR has obtained several eyewitness accounts of what happened during the bout at Bladeworld last night and we are going solely off of this information. Please comment with any clarifications or corrections to the accounts described.
Based on information received from Tucson Roller Derby and sources at the rinks, we have the following final scores from TRD:
BOUT 1
Vice Squad - 164
Iron Curtain - 14
BOUT 2
Copper Queens - 125
FT Waitresses - 73
The AZDR had heard a report that during the Vice vs. Iron Curtain bout, newcomer to TRD (but no stranger to derby) Helen Wheels had two 15-point jams.
On May 31, 6 ranked Tucson Roller Derby Saddletramps hosted 10 ranked Bay Area Derby Girls B.A.D.Girls at Bladeworld in Tucson. This was a 2 30-minute period game being played under WFTDA 2.1.1 rules. There was an interesting crowd there tonight. I had met folks from Duke City, whom I had announced a bout for them out here last year. Also down from Las Vegas, is the Grand Poobah of Derby. There was also a silent auction taking place to help raise funds for the Saddletramps.
Another night of overlapping schedules meant decisions on where to go. Fortunately this time, the overlap was in two different markets so derby fans could be more evenly divided among the two leagues. We had a double header in Tucson while AZRD had their final regulation bout of the season.
In front of a slightly smaller crowd last night, mainly because of the timing with the Pima County Fair, the Tucson Roller Derby fans at Bladeworld got to see two very amazing bouts last night.
