Renegade Rollergirls

According to Estro Jen on the Yahoo rollergirl list, a documentary on roller derby will air on ESPN this Sunday, May 18 at approximately 10:30AM (PT/ET) during SportsCenter and then will re-air at 11PM. We believe this is the same crew that came out to cover a Renegades event here in Phoenix earlier this year. A copy of ESPN's announcement follows:

GOODBYE CHUCK

Last Sunday, I was invited to come down to an old warehouse in Downtown Phoenix to watch the Renegade Rollergirls put on a bout at their new practice location. This bout, being put on for a by-invitation-only audience, was also being recorded by a major sports network for a documentary on alternative sports. Renegades came in from all of their sister leagues including Orange County, San Diego and Bend, OR.

In a message on their myspace site, the Renegade Rollergirls have postponed their January 19th demo bout that was to be held at Coronado Park in Phoenix "until further notice".

Only the extract could be recovered.

The AZDR has been informed of a time change for the upcoming BruiserNation scrimmage between the Arizona Bruisers and Tucson Roller Derby's Copper Queens.

The new start time is 4PM. We do note that time directly conflicts with the Renegade Rollergirls Demo Bout at Coronado Park in Phoenix, which is scheduled at the same time.

The AZDR will continue to cover the BruiserNation scrimmage as originally scheduled.

The Renegade Rollergirls will be holding another free demo bout at Coronado Park in Phoenix. This is the same place where the November demo bout took place. The November bout was shown on the November edition of the Arizona Derby Report.

Unfortunately, AZDR will not be able to cover this bout as we will be at the BruiserNation scrimmage between the Bruisers and the Tucson Roller Derby Copper Queens at Casey at the Bat.
